"But whatever things were gain to me,
those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.
More than that,
I count all things to be loss
in view of the surpassing value
of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord,
for whom I have suffered the loss of all things,
and count them but rubbish
so that I may gain Christ." Philippians 3:7-8
I'm trying to write this article on the Korn convert.
It's difficult. I have writer's block.
I wanted to lace his lyrics through the piece for rhetorical effect.
But then I googled them, and I found that wouldn't work.
Should I put in the part about rape? Stabbing people?
Drugs? Killing parents?
Or just the part where the f-word is repeated
overandoverandoverandoever
until it forms a beat of its own?
The lyrics are death,
and ugliness and hopelessness and desperation
and they no longer fit the reborn.
I wonder how he got from point A to point B
And the only thing I really see
Is that he didn't get there alone.
A Shepherd left the 99
to save his own.
Writer's Block
Sincerely,
Michelle

I actually see a lot of parallels between Korn before Christ and the Israelis before Christ. Even more, I think most born again Christians have a pretty rough background. I'd probably use him as a vehicle to talk about the path which leads people to becoming ' born again.' Just my 2 cents.
- Good Luck!
