Ex Cathedra

photo: Dino D'Agata (sorry, would have taken my own had they not banned cameras)

Today I took a quick afternoon trip to the National Cathedral. Breathtaking -- especially considering I've never really been in a real cathedral before. It made me want to visit Germany and see more.
Anyway, I stayed for an organ recital featuring a music minister/organist from a Catholic Church in Virginia. Yes, I got to hear a Bach fugue on a 10,000-pipe organ. Pretty majestic.
I also had the distinct privilege of sitting next to a woman who was a former Air Force pilot and pianist with very strong political views. I don't think she was aware, however, that I couldn't really distinguish far right from far left by the time the 10,000-pipe organ had launched into a prelude.
