I'm safe in Costa Rica, writing from my computer in my host family's home. Believe it or not, they have wireless! I can't wait for what's in store, because what's happened so far has been great. In the past 48 hours, I've met and memorized the names of 38 truly amazing traveling companions -- a bunch of really down-to-earth college students with big hearts and mediocre Spanish skills -- and settled into my new home. The family is fun -- a sweet mom and dad, an entertaining preteen girl and a big brother and sister, age 24 and 21, respectively.
So far, I haven't spoken a word of English to my host family: solamente espanol. My Spanish has thus far been working, although I've found I have a world of work to do on my listening comprehension! Ayayay.
Tomorrow, there will be pictures and hopefully video of this beautiful country. And also more details. But for now, it's bedtime, since that little bedside alarm is going to be sounding at 5:30 in the morning.
Hasta luego, todos!
Initiation
Sincerely,
Michelle
