What to See in Nevada County: Biblical Gardens

I spent a few hours of my day off reading my Bible and journaling at the Alta Sierra Biblical Gardens -- a fabulous set of bench-lined trails alongside a wooded brook, all located eight minutes from home.

It's a bit kitschy, with a giant, ceramic statue of Jesus positioned awkwardly on a riverside embankment, and signs alternating Bible verses and "Keep out of the creek."

But it's perfectly peaceful and absolutely solitary on a weekday afternoon. Only the wildflowers and camellias were out. What a great place for devotions.
