The Happy List

So all my blog buddies are in this craze called the Happy List -- basically, a bunch of simple pleasures that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Most of the cutesy ideas have already been taken, but here are a few of mine.

- People that leave comments on this blog

- A new restaurant where the atmosphere is so perfect that it makes you squeal in delight

- The smell of my mom's spaghetti when it's been simmering all afternoon, because I'm convinced it's the best in the world

- The comforting sound of a thick Spanish accent or just any Spanish in general

- The inexplicable grace of a ballerina

- Shimmering, perfect pointe shoes under the spotlight

- Curling up on the couch with a cup of cafe con leche, especially if it's Costa Rican

- Crackly, cozy fires and laying on the carpet directly in front of them

- Holding hands in the car

- Breakfast in the Caf while sitting close to the window, so close that the sun keeps you warm

- Red flags from BUBBS when they're not from Google alerts, Meridius Quarantine or Mark Spicer

- Finally agreeing with a friend that friendship is forever

- A long conversation where neither person is trying to impress the other

- The sound of a new text message, especially if it's a funny inside joke from my brothers

- Classic poems that speak about God so majestically it leaves you in awe of Him

- A hip hop song at precisely the right time

- The feel-good tragicness of a Death Cab song at precisely the right time

- The exhilaration of being the first to see the freshly-printed copy of the Chimes

- Playing with someone's hair, or vice versa

- A Torrey session that goes well so everyone ends up sighing out pensive, thoughtful hums and staring into space for a few moments

- My dad's hugs, which I've loved since I can remember

- The words "Good morning," especially when followed by word "beautiful"

- Driving to nowhere just so you can be with a friend longer
