Setting the stage:
When fate drops a $400 Southwest Airlines flight credit into your hands, you obviously MUST fly to South Dakota. Such was the case with Johanna, who decided just days earlier that she would visit me in the metropolis of Sioux Falls.
When you deal with tickets in the $400 range, you typically deal with times that are a bit ... odd. Johanna's flight into nearby Omaha wasn't exactly a red eye, but neither was it much of a bright-eyed, white-eyed flight. I'd call it a pink eye flight. She got in at about 12:30, which meant by the time we drove through deserted stretches of Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota, even at one point making a regretful turn at a town called Jefferson in which the only two establishments were a convenience store called Kum & Go and a restaurant called Pizza Chicken.
Both were eerily closed at 3:30 a.m.
We got back to Sioux Falls at about 4 a.m. The weekend was just getting started ....
Taking the Pink Eye to Sioux Falls
Sincerely,
Michelle
