Obrigadao! (Thank You, in Portuguese)

When you think of South Dakotan cuisine, typically one thought will come to mind- Brazilian food!

We decided on a place called, "Carnaval Brazilian Grill", a unique establishment dedicated to charging a lot, serving a lot, and MEAT.

The first course began with a round at the elaborate salad bar decked with wooden parrots and tropical plants. Then we made our way to the hot dishes which consisted of rice, beans, and mashed potatoes. A lovely combination.

We returned to the table to find a round pinwheel-like object. It operated much like a traffic light, in which green meant "Bring me the MEAT" and red, "SCRAM". We discovered this out of curiosity when I accidentally switched the pinwheel to the "Sim Por Favor!" side and was imMEATiately bombarded by three exotic waiters with giant skewers of varying meats. In broken English, the waiters would tell us the type of meat and offer it willingly, slicing it as we plucked it off the skewer with our tongs.

One of the options in the "exotic meats" category was not the waiters, but alligator meat. Of course we couldn't resist. Upon request, Joao dutifully retrieved the prized carne. Unfortunately for us, the alligator tasted as gross as it probably sounds (see video above). The texture was something like an unhappy marriage between rubber and bacon. Thankfully the rest of the cuisine was first rate and so was the rest of the night...
